About Backlink.so
Backlink.so is an independent, editorial site about backlinks and link equity — how links actually influence search rankings, how to earn them legitimately, and how to keep a link profile healthy over years, not weeks.
We write for site owners, marketers, and in-house SEOs who want durable rankings. That means we take a firm position: link schemes don’t work, and we won’t teach them. No bought link packages, no automatic backlink generators, no private blog networks, no reciprocal-link exchanges dressed up as “partnerships.” Search engines have spent two decades learning to ignore or punish exactly those tactics, and the sites that lean on them eventually pay for it — in wasted budget at best, in lost visibility at worst.
That stance is deliberate, and a little personal. This domain once hosted an automated “free backlinks generator” — one of the very tools we now write against. That site is long gone, none of its content survives here, and nothing on this domain today is connected to it. But its history is a useful reminder of how that era ended: thousands of machine-generated pages, no lasting value for anyone, and a dead site. We’d rather be the counterexample.
How we approach it
- Mechanics over hacks. We explain why something works — how crawlers discover links, how equity flows, what “nofollow” and “sponsored” actually do — so you can reason about new situations instead of memorizing tricks.
- Honest about effort. Earning good links is slow. We say so, and we don’t pretend a checklist replaces making something worth citing.
- No fabricated numbers. Search engines publish little hard data about how they weight links. Where the evidence is thin, we tell you it’s thin rather than inventing statistics or “case studies.”
- Vendor-neutral. We may describe categories of tools (backlink checkers, crawlers), but we don’t sell links, tools, or courses, and we don’t run pay-to-play rankings.
A note on advice
Everything here is general education about search-engine optimization. Search engines change their systems constantly and don’t disclose the details; treat any specific claim as a snapshot, verify against official documentation (such as Google Search Central), and test carefully on your own site.
